CASTLEPOINT CHAPLAINCY TEAM including Asda Store

In July 2002 a team of 8 Chaplains, local clergy from various denominations, began to work with Asda, Castlepoint, on a Chaplaincy which entails weekly visits to the store supporting the ‘colleagues’ and customers.  Following the more recent development of Castlepoint shopping Centre, the Team are now recognised by the Castlepoint management as Chaplains to the 38 stores.  During 2004 the mode of working with this wider brief will be developed.

9.7     CHAPLAINCY

Castlepoint supports the aims of store Chaplaincy.  Chaplains can visit stores on a regular basis and seek to develop relationships of mutual confidence with people at all levels.  They have link with IBEX (an ecumenical organisation of churches working with the economy along the centre south coast), and may be able to put you in touch with other Chaplains in the retail sector.

The Aims of the Chaplaincy

• To be available to meet the needs of the Store.
• To respond to those needs in the light of the faith communities we respect.
• To encourage local churches and faith communities to take a lively interest in the activities of the Store and to contribute where appropriate.
• To be available to individuals throughout the Store.
• To understand the work people do in and around the Store, and the opportunities and issues that arise from it.
• To help facilitate good relationships at all levels, providing care for everyone.
• To be a resource to the Store.
