David Wrighton – Team Leader and Secretary
David comes from a strong Methodist background – the fifth member of the family on his mother’s side to become a Methodist Local Preacher. He also brings 20 years business experience, holds the Diploma of the Institute of Marketing and an MBA through the Open University.
For the last 20 years he has served IBEX and its predecessor SHIM, relating what we do on Sunday to the rest of the week, and vice versa. This is accompanied by a passion for Social Justice, which is also a vital part of his Methodist Inheritance!
David’s degree in modern languages has inspired an international dimension to the organisation, not least our involvement with La Fraternite in Rouen, and on a wider basis with the French Protestant Industrial Mission’s British Committee.
David has significant involvement with the voluntary sector in Eastleigh and Southampton, mainly around training and unemployment. He coordinates the churches’ link with Southampton City Council. He is also considers it vital that the Churches and the Faith Communities should be accepted as partners in the secular world when addressing local and community needs. He therefore spends a great dealof effort in promoting such views both within and outside the Churches.
David has wide experience is setting up workplace chaplaincies and is available to help churches to set up new chaplaincies and to deliver training to existing ones. He also offers to help church members to relate their faith to daily life, and suggestions for worship materials to reflect on issues in the economy.
